Abortion
Yadira Caraveo: U.S. Rep. Caraveo has a history of supporting abortion care, including voting for a bill in the Colorado state legislature that guaranteed abortion and contraception access in Colorado. She publicly advocates to “continue the fight to restore the right to choose and defend women’s reproductive freedom.”
Gabe Evans: Rep. Evans repeatedly voted to restrict access to abortion in Colorado, including a no vote on a bill that aimed to establish state protections for accessing reproductive health care.
Evans stated he supports banning abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest; he also supported the overturn Roe v. Wade.
Housing Affordability
Yadira Caraveo: U.S. Rep. Caraveo believes “we should not be giving preference to investors and wealthier borrowers who are purchasing second homes; we should be supporting working class families.” She is an established sponsor and supporter of legislation that aims to make housing more accessible and affordable for all young people in Colorado. As a state representative (HD31, 2019-2023), Rep. Caraveo co-sponsored a bill that would have prohibited landlords from asking immigration status questions on rental applications; she also supported a bill to increase funding for affordable housing.
Gabe Evans: Rep. Evans voted against nearly every housing bill in the state legislature that aimed to increase affordability. To name a few, he voted against a reduction in property taxes, against emergency rental assistance, and against increasing housing supply near transportation-oriented communities.
Healthcare
Yadira Caraveo: As a doctor and pediatrician, one of U.S. Rep Caraveo’s priorities is to address the impacts of skyrocketing health care costs. Environment
Yadira Caraveo: U.S. Rep. Caraveo supported every pro-environment bill in her time in the Colorado legislature, notably voting in favor of ensuring all schools and child care centers have clean drinking water, holding polluters accountable, and in support of a plan to decrease Colorado’s contribution to climate change.
Gabe Evans: Rep. Evans has voted against every pro-environment bill in his time at the Colorado legislature. For example, he voted against reducing the impacts of toxic pollution, against increasing renewable energy production, and against building new train and transit projects.
