Denver, CO – November 6, 2025 – New Era Colorado, the most effective youth mobilization and organizing nonprofit in the state, closed out a successful electoral and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) program for the 2025 Municipal Elections. For the first time in the organization’s history, New Era Action Fund endorsed ten Youth Agenda Champions in local elections in cities where they organize year-round, including Aurora, Fort Collins, and Boulder, resulting in critical victories.

In what has been coined as “the shock of the night” by Kyle Clark on 9 News, every single New Era–endorsed candidate in Aurora won, delivering a clean sweep and flipping the majority at City Hall. In a landscape where conservative dollars outspent progressive candidates by fifteen times the amount, New Era was the only progressive organization to invest in the Aurora community by creating an Independent Expenditure Committee and allocating its limited resources to reach over 40,000 young people at the doors, on the phones, online, and through their mailboxes.

“We were told, like many of our endorsed candidates, that it was impossible to compete against the hundreds of thousands of dollars pouring into Aurora for the opposition. The idea of what is possible and impossible has never stopped young people; it has only motivated us to push harder, speak louder, and win bigger.” Arianna Morales, deputy director of New Era Action Fund. “Our candidates won because the people of Aurora will not be represented by someone who sells out the community they represent for national clickbait. Aurora deserves and voted for champions who will stand with and advocate for them. We feel honored to have worked beside champions to flip Aurora City Council in a community that is so deserving of true leadership.”

Seven out of ten candidates endorsed by New Era Action Fund won their races. In Fort Collins, Emily Francis will become the next Mayor, and Chris Conway will now represent District 5 on City Council. In Boulder, Nicole Speer was re-elected to serve another term on City Council. And, in Aurora, Alli Jackson will now serve in the at–large seat, Gianina Horton in Ward 1, Amy Wiles in Ward 2, and Ruben Medina in Ward 3.

New Era ran its most ambitious municipal election program to date, reaching over 100,000 young people through a full-spectrum effort: targeted mail, phone calls, text conversations, door-to-door canvassing, a trusted voter guide, dynamic digital outreach, and energizing campus organizing. Together, these tactics met young people and working families where they are, turned information into action, and momentum into measurable wins.

“The victories from this election are a testament to young people’s grassroots power and New Era’s commitment to elect bold progressive leaders who will go to bat for the issues facing young people in Colorado.” Chelsea Castellano, political director of New Era Colorado Action Fund. ”We anticipate monumental changes in 2026 as we continue to harness the political power of young people to build a better Colorado for all.”
